Ever since Lou and Emory Upton founded the Upton Machine Company in 1911, the experts at Whirlpool Corporation have always had the consumer’s best interest at heart. From the introduction of the first washing machine to the first microwave, Whirlpool Corporation’s brands have focused on providing their consumers with the most efficient and cost-effective products to improve their homes, one appliance at a time.
A company that has introduced such industry-changing appliances has also been at the forefront of knowing how consumers use those appliances. In 2000 and 2010, respectively, Whirlpool started two initiatives to make cooking, cleaning, and homemaking a little bit easier: the Institute of Fabric Science and the Institute of Kitchen Science. Through these two websites, the experts at Whirlpool sought to educate their consumers by providing tips and tricks on proper usage, cleaning, and maintenance of their kitchen and laundry appliances. This was a hit! But in 2015, Whirlpool combined the two websites to form the Institute of Home Science. This way, the solutions you want–now for the whole home, not just the kitchen and the laundry room–can be found in one place.
